Our history
We started out selling steam cleaners in 1957.
The name on the wall has changed once in almost seventy years. What has not changed is the trade: water cleaning equipment, sold and serviced out of the same corner of southeastern Michigan.
From Atomic Steam Company to Atomic Cleaning Systems
1957
The business opened its doors as Atomic Steam Company, selling and servicing steam cleaning equipment. Steam was the standard way to clean heavy equipment and industrial surfaces back then, and that is what the counter did all day.
A change in the trade
As the industry moved from steam over to high pressure water, the business moved with it and took a new name to match: Atomic Cleaning Systems. The people behind the counter stayed the same. The machines they sold and fixed did not.
Ahead of the regulation
We got into wastewater treatment before the law caught up.
Cleaning equipment produces a waste stream, and we started investing early in the technology to handle it: bio-remediation, clarifiers, evaporation, oil-water separation and clay absorption. That equipment pulls solids, hydrocarbons, oil, pesticides, organic material and fertilizer out of the water before it goes anywhere, which cuts down on waste hauling and keeps the odor down.
In 1985 the Federal Clean Water Act shifted its focus from cleaning up spills after the fact to regulating how much could be discharged in the first place. That change built an entire equipment industry almost overnight, and we were already working in it.
March 2000
The Thompson family took over, and never left.
The previous owner retired and sold the business to Eric and Robert Thompson. Twenty five years later the Thompson family still runs the counter, the shop and the parts department. If you have called here before, there is a good chance you have spoken to one of them.

Where things stand now
A certified Landa dealer with a parts wall behind it.
We are an official Landa dealer today, with more than two hundred models to draw on: pressure washers, steam cleaners, cabinet parts washers, environmental equipment and industrial cleaning compounds. A large parts department sits behind the counter and services almost any brand, not just what we sell, and we are a ProView member. Our territory is southeastern Michigan, the same ground we have covered since 1957.
