What Actually Breaks on a Pressure Washer, and What a Fair Estimate Looks Like
A repair estimate that doesn't give you a number, a limit, and a time frame isn't really an estimate.

Most of what comes through our repair shop falls into a short list of usual suspects. Knowing what those are, and what a proper estimate should tell you before you agree to any work, saves you from surprise bills and from paying to fix the wrong thing twice.
What tends to fail first
The pump takes the most abuse on any pressure washer, so it's where problems show up most often: worn seals and O-rings that let pressure leak past instead of building it, and screens that clog with debris and starve the pump of clean water. Beyond the pump, hoses crack or blow at the fittings with age and use, spray wands and trigger guns wear out from being dropped and dragged around a job site, and on gas units the engine itself needs the same kind of regular attention any small engine does, especially when it's been sitting for a stretch between jobs.
None of that is unusual. It's what happens to equipment that gets used hard, which is exactly the equipment we sell and rent. The difference between a quick fix and a big bill usually comes down to how early the problem gets caught, which is the whole reason for the purge, oil change, and O-ring checks in our maintenance guide.
What our repair shop actually does
We service every make and model we sell, plus most other commercial brands that come through the door, whether or not you bought it from us. Our techs are factory-trained and manufacturer-certified where that certification exists, including Honda Master Tech certification for small engine work. We offer on-site and in-house repair, and phone consultation if you're trying to troubleshoot something yourself before deciding whether it needs to come in.
What a repair estimate should tell you
- A real estimate for the work, not a vague range
- A price limit you've agreed to, so nothing gets done above it without you being asked first
- A time frame for how long the repair will take
- A technician recommendation on whether the repair is worth doing versus what replacement would cost
If a shop hands you a machine back with a bill and none of those four things were discussed up front, that's not really an estimate, it's an invoice you didn't get to weigh in on. We give you all four before any work starts, and the price limit means you're never on the hook for a repair that grew past what you agreed to without a conversation first.
When a repair beats a replacement, and when it doesn't
One customer, Meg McKenzie, had a new air compressor break on its very first start, and rather than push a quick patch job through under warranty, our techs decided the unit was too far gone and had the manufacturer send a replacement before it ever reached her. Another customer, Jarrod Grumblatt, has come to us for years specifically because we get contractors back up and running fast when downtime is costing them money. Sometimes the honest recommendation is a full repair, sometimes it's telling you the unit isn't worth fixing, and sometimes it's leaning on the manufacturer instead of billing you for work that shouldn't be your cost to carry. All three came out of the same estimate process: a real number, a limit, a time frame, and a straight recommendation.
Why the certifications behind the counter actually matter
We're a certified Landa dealer and a Honda Master Tech certified shop, and we're a ProView member on top of that. None of that is decoration. It means the techs working on your machine have real manufacturer training behind them, not just years of guessing, and when a repair calls for genuine parts instead of a generic substitute, we have the dealer relationships to get them. That's the difference between a repair that holds and one that comes back through the door in another month.
Brands we service
Our repair list is long and covers most of what's actually out on job sites: Landa, Hotsy, Karcher, Simpson, Mi-T-M, NorthStar, Alkota, Hydro Tek, and a long list beyond those. If you're not sure whether we service your particular brand, the full serviced-brands list is on our repair page, and it is a good deal longer than the list of brands we sell. Or just call and ask.
